Eamonn Flanagan, Director, Shore Capital

Eamonn is one of the UK's top ten stockbroking analysts in the insurance and specialty finance sectors, and was rated second for coverage of smaller companies in these sectors in the last Reuters' survey. After a degree in mathematics, he qualified as an actuary with Royal Insurance where he worked for nine years; he is now a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. He moved into stockbroking research with Charterhouse Tilney where he was for nine years when it latterly became ING Financial Markets. He joined Shore Capital in 2003 as head of the Liverpool office.

James Kent, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Willis Re, President, Willis Re North America

James is Global Deputy CEO of Willis Re having been appointed to this position in December 2016. James also has the role of North America President of Willis Re and runs the U.S. operation in conjunction with Jim Bradshaw, CEO of Willis Re North America. James is charged with growing our Property, Casualty and Specialty operations throughout North America leading a collaborative and client focused organization.

Prior to his appointment as President of Willis Re North America, James ran the reinsurance operations for Willis Re Bermuda where he was responsible for developing new reinsurance business from Bermuda-domiciled companies and for managing inward business into the Bermuda reinsurance market. James was instrumental in establishing Willis Re’s unique Bermuda platform and ensuring that the Bermuda operation became fully aligned with our worldwide network of offices, thus allowing our global clients to receive local representation when dealing with the Bermuda reinsurance market.

James joined Willis in 2004 from Aon Re (now Aon Benfield), where he served as Director for 13 years, producing and placing Property and Casualty treaty business. During his final two-and-a-half years at Aon, James served as Vice President of Aon Re of Bermuda.

Scott McIntosh
, Group Reinsurance and Credit Director, Aviva Group

Scott is responsible for the reinsurance function globally for Aviva including all GI businesses and increasingly Life and Health as well.
Scott has recently taken on responsibility for leading the team that manages Aviva’s counterparty credit risk globally.

Additionally, Scott serves as Director and CEO of Aviva Re, the group’s risk retention captive. Scott reports to Martin Muir, Aviva’s Chief Capital Officer and Maurice Tulloch, Aviva’s CEO International Insurance, and is a member of the Group Capital Senior Leadership Team.

Scott has had an international career with over 25 years experience in financial services including 17 years in reinsurance. Originally from Chicago, Scott has worked in the US, Germany, Ireland and the UK.
Scott has a BA in Economics from University of Colorado and an MBA from the University of Illinois.

Mike Sapnar, President and CEO, Transatlantic Holdings, Inc.

Michael Sapnar is currently President and CEO of Transatlantic Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiaries, Transatlantic Reinsurance Company (TransRe) and Fair American Insurance and Reinsurance Company (Fairco).

Mike joined TransRe in 1995 as an AVP in the Special Casualty Unit underwriting D&O, E&O and Medical Malpractice.   He transferred to the London office in June 1996.   He was the Underwriting Manager of the London Branch from July 1998 until February 2002 when he returned to the New York office serving as the CUO for North America until his current role.

Prior to TransRe, Mike spent 8 years at Continental Insurance as an underwriter and branch manager for the Guaranty and Credit division.   He handled mostly D&O, E&O and Fidelity business during that period.

Mike earned a B.A. in Economics from the College of William and Mary and an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University.
